Welcome to Writing Foundations!

Taking the mystery and misery out of learning to write!

Local High School

At the high school level, Writing Foundations is a 2 year course – Level 1 for Grades 7-11 and Level 2 for Grades 8-12. Those who successfully complete a full year of Level 1 may move on to Level 2. Many students take Level 1 for two years to further practice the foundational skills needed for Level 2.

NOTE: Writing Foundations started in 2001 after Ms. B. completed the teacher training program from the Institute For Excellence in Writing. Writing Foundations, however, is not the same as IEW’s student video curriculum. Regardless of previous experience, ALL NEW STUDENTS MUST START AT LEVEL ONE.
