Elementary Level II
If your student was able to complete all of the course work in Level I and shows promise of independent ability, s/he is ready for Level II! The first semester will review the basics while working towards and strengthening independence. The second semester will expand on the basics with simple essay and “read search” report writing. As before, the year will culminate with a wonderful portfolio project!
Keep in mind that every student’s writing journey is different and that no writer is ever 100% independent. As you may have heard me say, “Even an editor needs an editor!” During the first semester, many students may miraculously take off in outlining, drafting, and revising on their own, and some may not. However, as they have needed your help in Level I, second semester of Level II will require renewed parental assistance for all as students journey into new lands of essay writing and “read search” skills.
Skills
Outlining, narrating, drafting narratives, summaries, essays, “read search” reports, grammar, vocabulary, basic writing style, sentence variety, portfolios, and presentations.
