Essays on Demand
A 5 essay course that escorts students through five basic steps in writing timed essays for simple prompts. The entire course will take approximately 30 email lessons.
Skills
Critical thinking, thesis statements, supportive reasoning, drafting, timing, and scoring.
Syllabus
In each lesson students will complete a few basic steps: forming a thesis statement, thoughtful reasoning, and drafting an essay within a gradually modified time limit. Student will submit a handwritten draft for each lesson via a scanner/email or postal mail for scoring. The last lesson will culminate with a “Cold Turkey Test”, writing straight from a prompt without prolonged discussion or analysis. Parental moderation of the writing time limit is necessary.
Age Level/Prerequisite
Ages 14 and up with prior experience of The Basic Essay or Writing Foundations I.
