(Picture coming soon… “When I find a day that my hair looks nice!” – Miss Z.)
Zoe Brekke (also known as Miss Z. or Miss Zoe) is the head editor of Writing Foundations. Her writing career began in 2000 when she was four years old. As she sat in her mother’s class, Zoe wrote a story about “the horrible king who abominated everyone.” Thus began her glorious ascent into the world of English and her love of college-level vocabulary.
In 2008, the age of twelve, Miss Z. began contributing to the family business by keeping records and scoring Technique Practices in the back of the classroom after she had finished her own homework. Showing an aptitude for English and an intuitive knowledge of grammar and punctuation, as well as the Writing Foundations/IEW methodology, Miss Z. began helping Ms. B. edit at the age of fifteen. By the time she was eighteen, Miss Z. had taken charge of all editing, including training in new editors and managing the scoring and grading processes behind the scenes. Miss Z.’s knowledge of the English language, technological aptitude, and steel trap of a brain have made her an invaluable part of the Writing Foundations team. She also contracts as an editor with a local publishing company.
Miss Z. adores her career as an editor and a teacher, and her favorite part of her job is helping students strengthen their writing skills and develop their writing styles throughout their years in Writing Foundations. Miss Z. also loves to drink Costa Rican coffee, play piano and compose music, write stories, and cook. Miss Z. is a Christ-loving woman who aspires to be a wife, a mom, and a published author, then someday retire as “that crazy cat lady who bakes cookies and talks about Jesus all day.” Her favorite colors are sky-blue and dark-orchid-purple.
